What we believe as Evangelical Christians

There are many different groups of Christians, and we hold to different practices.  However, the core of what we believe is the same for all of us.

The Bible:

We believe the Bible, both old and new testaments to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative, written Word of God

The Trinity:

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

The Lord Jesus Christ:

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his atoning death, his bodily resurrection and his coming personal return in power and glory

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in this present world.

Last Things:

We Believe this present world will conclude in God's timing and a new heaven and earth will be established.  Following the return of Christ, the triumph over evil, the resurrection of all, and the final judgement, those who have accepted Christ will live forever with God (heaven) and those who have rejected his salvation will be banished from God's presence (hell).

Religious Liberty:

We believe people are created in the image of God, are morally accountable, and must freely choose their own destiny.

The Ordinances:

We believe there are two ordinances given to the church: Baptism and The Lord's Supper. All persons accepting Christ as savior are to be baptised by immersion, symbolizing the death, burial and resurrection of the believer in Christ.  The Lord's Supper is to be shared regularly by believers in remembrance of our saviour's death.

Regenerate Church Membership:

We believe the local church is to be made up of Christians; those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Addendum:  Beliefs Specific to this room, and practices that we follow

While the following are not officially part of our statement of faith, we include them here, as they effect what we teach in this room.  We recognize that you may not agree with us, and that you may feel tempted to argue these beliefs.  However, we ask you not to.  If you insist upon arguing with us, then you will be removed from the room.
1.  We believe that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is for ALL of humanity, not just a select few
2.  We believe that, while we are Chosen by God, and adopted as Sons, we must respond to
God in order to be saved.
3.  We believe that, while baptism is a commandment, it does nothing to save us.  It is not entirely
a requirement of church membership, however if a candidate for membership in the church has
not been baptised, we believe it appropriate to do so.  Thus, when you are baptised, you
become a member of the church.
4.  We recognize that the gift of tongues is scriptural.  However, we believe that, in the form it
appears in pentecostal and charismatic circles, it is not to be practiced in public.
5.  We find very little scriptural basis for being "slain in the spirit".  What we do see is that while there
were people who did fall before God, they fell forward, not backward.  Also, they fell down
     either in fear or worship.
See  SeekHim's article on being slain in the spirit for further
     information
6.  We believe that once you are saved, you cannot lose your salvation under any circumstances,
except if you greive the Holy Spirit.  We believe, though, that to greive the Holy Spirit is
something that a believer cannot do.
