Message from the executive director

Greetings! My name is Richard Hovey, and I have just come on as the new Executive Director for Strasbourg Bible Camp. Camp ministry is an exciting and effective way to reach out to our communities with the life changing (destiny changing) message of Jesus Christ. I recall times I have had at Christian camps in the past, both as a camper and as a counsellor (and in more recent years as a camp speaker), and have had my own life touched and have seen the lives of many others, especially young people, touched as well.

I have spent the last number of years as a pastor, but over those years have been actively involved in Camp Ministry in one capacity or another – either as a camp speaker (as I have already mentioned), as a director, or as a board member for a number of different camps including here in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.

I am currently living in Caronport, SK, finishing up an MA in Pastoral Counselling and an MA in Theology from Briercrest Seminary. I did an undergrad in Sociology from Atlantic Baptist University in NB. New Brunswick is home for both my wife (Julie) and I, and we have three beautiful daughters: Maria (11), Jennifer (8), and Andrea (3).

I have been on site at Strasbourg Bible Camp on two separate occasions now: once in the winter and once in this summer – what a contrast! But beautiful on both occasions. Strasbourg Bible Camp is equipped with wonderful facilities and backed by a Board which has a heart for Camp Ministry.

I am excited to be a part of the team at Strasbourg, and to be joining you in this ministry of reaching our generation for Christ through Camp. I am trusting the Lord for wonderful things to come as we work together for Him.

In Christ,
